PETRA SCHONOVA

[ Mixed Media Abstract Artist from London, UK ]

In our interaction she mentions the following points:

"I am environmentally mindful, and I have participated in several projects and activities that promote Sustainability.

As a designer, I know the importance of the three fundamental principles of sustainability known as 3R; Reduce - Reuse - Recycle, which I am implementing during my creative process and in my personal life.

Sometimes, I upcycle old pieces of furniture by giving them a new look. Other times, I create a completely new item as for example, by reusing an old drawer I designed a new coat hanger set in punk style for my hallway.

As an artist, I use only primary colours like Red, Blue, and Yellow to create additional colours for my paintings, which allows me to reduce the amount of plastic bottles and other packaging used significantly.

I do believe and support the vision, that valuable artwork can be produced on any medium. I do use recycled canvases, or I do create my own ones by recycling old fabric items like old cotton shoe bags. I like to share and teach my students about sustainable art and design practices which highlights that 'From few resources, we can create beautiful and purposeful things'..."
