David Rue is a Visual Artist, Musician, and Composer whose work has shown in galleries in Oregon and Kentucky (United States).  Over the three decades that he lived in Portland, Oregon, Dave’s painting style evolved from bold geometric designs to vivid, textured abstractions inspired by his love of music and nature.  Dave played in many bands in Portland and toured with roots/rock/junkyard blues group Cicada Omega.  For several years he worked at Music Millenium, the oldest record store in the Pacific Northwest, where he expanded his musical knowledge and became an avid vinyl collector.  In the mid 90’s, Dave owned and operated a gallery in Portland’s Old Town where he showed metal sculpture and mixed media works as well as work by other Emerging Artists.

Dave grew up outside of Louisville, Kentucky where he studied with painter William Haney and sculptor Bob Lockhart at Bellarmine College in the early 90’s before continuing his education with metal sculptor Dennis Cunningham at Marylhurst College in Oregon. When the pandemic hit, Dave moved back to Louisville to be closer to family and play drums with the bands Frogmen and Satchel’s Pawn Shop, his lifelong friends.
